When I first sat down to conjour up a bunch of handmade bracelets out of nowhere, I spent about half an hour looking through my supplies... and couldn't come up with anything exciting. I started getting worried and thinking "Crap, what am I gonna put on the blog?! I'm gonna look like such an idiot going on about this bracelet challenge and then coming up with nothing! Maybe you DO need special jewelery making equipment and stuff?!"
Then I remembered what I learned from that zine that time and gave myself permission to make something really rubbish. I started threading random beads onto cord, tying a knot in-between each one until it was long enough to wrap around my wrist twice. It was awful! My kids could probably do better. I promptly cut all the beads out and put them back in their containers :)
But while I was doing all that the ideas part of my brain must of switched on because now I had ideas! I figured out (duh) that pretty much anything you can wrap round your wrist can become a cute bracelet with a bit of imagination and some way of securing it. So now I have 8 lovely bracelets on the go that I'm excited to wear!
I'm working on them here and there - my little girl has quit the afternoon naps so I have no set "me time" anymore! I'm grabbing it where I can. Anyway the first bracelet (my favourite!) tutorial will be posted tomorrow some time, so check back!
